Design and Historical Significance:
The Webley Mk2 Service Rifle stands as a pinnacle of early 20th-century airgun design. Produced around 1910, this rifle was crafted to emulate the feel and operation of military service rifles of the era. Its impressive 41.5-inch overall length and substantial weight provide a realistic training experience, making it a favorite among historical shooting enthusiasts and collectors. The most striking feature of the Mk2 Service is its exceptionally long 25.5-inch barrel. This extended barrel not only contributes to the rifle’s impressive accuracy but also provides excellent balance and stability, crucial for precise shooting. The blue finish on the barrel adds to its aesthetic appeal and helps protect against corrosion

Performance and Mechanism:
As a break barrel, spring-piston air rifle, the Webley Mk2 Service offers reliable and consistent performance. The cocking action, while requiring some effort due to the long barrel, is smooth and contributes to the rifle’s charm and historical authenticity. Recent testing has shown that in .177 caliber, this rifle can achieve velocities ranging from 355 to 395 fps, demonstrating respectable power for its age, one of the most innovative features of the Mk2 Service is its interchangeable barrel system. This versatility allows shooters to switch between .177, .22, and .25 calibers, making it adaptable to various shooting disciplines and preferences, This feature was quite advanced for its time and added significantly to the rifle’s collectible value.

Accuracy and Sighting:
The Webley Mk2 Service Rifle comes equipped with both open sights and a flip-up aperture sight, catering to different shooting styles and ranges
The open sights are ideal for quick target acquisition and general plinking, while the aperture sight offers enhanced precision for longer-range shooting. This dual-sight system, combined with the long barrel, contributes to the rifle’s reputation for exceptional accuracy.
Build Quality and Durability:
Crafted in England, the Webley Mk2 Service Rifle exemplifies the robust construction and attention to detail characteristic of British gunmaking. The rifle features a traditional wooden stock, providing both aesthetic appeal and durability. The leather breech seal, a common feature in airguns of this era, ensures a good seal for consistent performance
The overall build quality of these rifles is exceptional, with many examples still functioning well over a century after their manufacture.
Collectibility and Historical Value:
As a pre-owned item, this Webley Mk2 Service Rifle offers more than just a shooting experience; it’s a tangible piece of firearms history. These rifles were designed to last a lifetime, and their enduring popularity among collectors and shooters alike is a testament to their quality and historical significance. Owning such a rifle provides a unique opportunity to connect with the rich tradition of British airgun manufacturing.

Despite its age, the Webley Mk2 Service Rifle is known for its reliability and ease of maintenance. Regular cleaning and proper lubrication of the moving parts will ensure continued smooth operation.
