Description

Detailed Overview: The pre-owned Remington 11-87 semi-automatic shotgun in 12 bore is a testament to Remington’s commitment to quality and reliability in firearm design. Building upon the success of the renowned 1100 series, the 11-87 incorporates modern improvements to create a versatile and dependable shotgun suitable for a wide range of shooting applications. At the heart of the Remington 11-87 is its gas-operated system, which has been refined over decades of development. This system efficiently harnesses the gases from fired shells to cycle the action, offering several key benefits to the shooter. Firstly, it provides exceptionally smooth and reliable cycling, even with lighter loads, ensuring consistent performance in various shooting scenarios. Secondly, the gas system helps to reduce felt recoil, making the 11-87 more comfortable to shoot over extended periods and allowing for faster follow-up shots

The 12 bore chambering of this pre-owned Remington 11-87 offers versatility that few other calibres can match. It’s equally at home on the clay shooting range, in the duck blind, or in the field pursuing upland game. The 12 bore’s wide range of available ammunition types allows shooters to tailor their loads to specific applications, from light target loads for practice to heavier loads for hunting

One of the standout features of this pre-owned Remington 11-87 is its multi-choke system. The ability to quickly and easily change chokes allows shooters to adapt the gun’s pattern to different shooting scenarios. Whether you’re shooting clays at varying distances or hunting different game species, the multi-choke system provides the flexibility to optimise your shotgun’s performance

The synthetic stock on this pre-owned Remington 11-87 offers durability and weather resistance that traditional wood stocks can’t match. It’s designed to withstand the rigours of field use, resisting scratches, dings, and the effects of moisture. The stock features a textured grip area, ensuring a secure hold even in wet conditions. The length of pull is a comfortable 36.8 cm (14.5 inches), suitable for most adult shooters, though it’s worth noting that some users may find this slightly short and might consider adding a stock extender for a perfect fit
The 71.1 cm (28-inch) barrel of this pre-owned Remington 11-87 strikes an excellent balance between maneuverability and swing characteristics. It’s topped with a ventilated rib that helps dissipate heat and reduce mirage, culminating in a simple bead sight. This sight picture is quick to acquire and aligns naturally for instinctive shooting, crucial for both clay target sports and wing shooting
In terms of capacity, this pre-owned Remington 11-87 typically holds 4+1 rounds with the standard magazine plug installed, complying with most hunting regulations. However, it’s worth noting that some variants may offer increased capacity, potentially up to 10 shots, which could be particularly useful for certain competitive shooting disciplines or pest control applications
The Remington 11-87’s action is constructed from a forged steel billet, ensuring durability and longevity. The matte blued finish not only provides corrosion resistance but also reduces glare, an important consideration for hunters. The bolt features a small, knurled cocking handle that’s easy to manipulate, even with gloved hands
Maintenance of this pre-owned Remington 11-87 is straightforward, with easy access to key components for cleaning. The gas system, while more complex than inertia-driven alternatives, is well-designed and proven reliable over decades of use. Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure continued smooth operation and longevity
In terms of performance, the Remington 11-87 is known for its reliability with a wide range of loads, typically from 26-gram upwards. Like all semi-automatic shotguns, it may benefit from a brief break-in period of 50-75 rounds to achieve optimal smoothness and reliability. The gas system effectively manages recoil, making the 11-87 comfortable to shoot even with heavier hunting loads
As a pre-owned item, this Remington 11-87 offers excellent value, providing access to a high-quality, versatile shotgun at a more accessible price point than a new model. Its condition is excellent, suggesting careful use by its previous owner and promising many more years of reliable service. In conclusion, this pre-owned Remington 11-87 semi-automatic shotgun in 12 bore represents an excellent opportunity for both experienced shooters and those new to semi-automatic shotguns. Its combination of reliability, versatility, and proven design makes it suitable for a wide range of applications, from clay target sports to hunting and pest control. As with any pre-owned firearm, potential buyers are encouraged to take advantage of our range testing opportunity to experience firsthand the performance and fit of this Remington 11-87.
