Detailed Overview:

The pre-owned Millard 12 bore over/under shotgun embodies the classic design principles that have made this configuration a favourite among shooters for generations. As a second-hand firearm, it offers an excellent entry point into the world of quality shotguns without the premium price tag of a new gun. At the heart of this Millard over/under is its 12 bore chambering, a versatile choice that allows for a wide range of applications. The 12 bore is equally at home in the field pursuing game birds or at the clay shooting range, making this pre-owned shotgun a versatile tool for various shooting disciplines. The ability to use a variety of ammunition types, from light target loads to heavier game loads, adds to the gun’s flexibility.

One of the standout features of this pre-owned Millard is its choke configuration. The gun comes with a full choke in the lower barrel and a half choke in the upper barrel. This combination provides excellent versatility in the field. The full choke offers tighter patterns for longer shots or smaller targets, while the half choke provides a more open pattern for closer targets or larger game. This setup allows the shooter to quickly adapt to changing shooting scenarios without the need to change chokes manually.

The non-ejector design of this Millard shotgun is worth noting. While some may see this as a drawback compared to ejector models, many shooters appreciate the control and quieter operation that non-ejector guns provide, especially in hunting scenarios where shell retention is desired. It also simplifies the gun’s mechanism, potentially leading to increased reliability and longevity. The double trigger configuration is another classic feature of this Millard over/under. This setup allows for instant barrel selection, a feature many traditional shooters prefer. The front trigger fires the bottom barrel (typically the full choke), while the rear trigger fires the top barrel (typically the half choke). This arrangement allows for quick adaptation to different shooting situations.

While we don’t have exact measurements for this specific pre-owned Millard, over/under shotguns of this type typically feature 28-inch barrels. This barrel length offers a good balance between swing characteristics and pointability, suitable for both field and clay shooting applications. The estimated overall length of 114 cm (45 inches) and weight of around 3.2 kg (7 lbs) suggest a gun that is manageable in the field yet stable enough for consistent shooting.

The stock of this pre-owned Millard is likely made from walnut, as is traditional for shotguns of this type. The checkering on the grip and forend areas provides a secure hold, even in damp conditions. The estimated length of pull of 36.8 cm (14.5 inches) is fairly standard and should suit most adult shooters, though individual fit may vary.In terms of sighting, this Millard over/under likely features a simple bead sight at the end of the rib. This traditional sighting system is quick to acquire and aligns naturally for instinctive shooting, crucial for both game shooting and clay target sports.

The overall condition of this pre-owned Millard is very good. This is a crucial factor when considering a second-hand firearm, as it indicates that the gun should provide many more years of reliable service with proper maintenance. As with any pre-owned firearm, potential buyers should take advantage of the opportunity to inspect and test the gun before purchase. This Millard over/under’s classic design means that any gunsmith familiar with traditional shotguns should be able to service it, ensuring its longevity.

For newcomers to shooting sports, this pre-owned Millard 12 bore over/under presents an excellent entry point. Its straightforward design, versatile choke configuration, and robust construction make it a forgiving platform on which to build shooting skills. More experienced shooters may appreciate its classic styling and reliable performance as either a main gun or a trusty backup. In conclusion, this pre-owned Millard 12 bore over/under shotgun offers a compelling package for shooters of all levels. Its classic design, versatile configuration, and excellent condition make it a worthy consideration for anyone in the market for a quality second-hand shotgun. Whether your interests lie in game shooting, clay target sports, or both, this Millard over/under promises to be a reliable companion in the field or at the range
